Bencore · Composite panels
Starlight composite panel
The original Bencore panel: a 19 mm polycarbonate honeycomb between clear or coloured skins.
Starlight was the panel that turned Bencore from a stone backing specialist into an architectural materials brand. It is a polycarbonate honeycomb core with 19 mm cells, bonded to outer skins in acrylic, PETG or polycarbonate, and it reads as a field of soft stars when light passes through it.
Three builds cover most briefs. Starlight Extra is the standard panel. Starlight Plus is the thicker, stiffer build used where a wall needs to carry sound reduction and fire certificates. Starlight Floor is a 40 mm panel with polycarbonate skins rated for a 350 kg/m² operating load, the build Bencore supplied for the backlit stage at the UEFA Champions League Final in Cardiff.

Three skin materials
Acrylic for clarity, PETG for impact, polycarbonate for the Floor build. Skins come glossy or satin.

Questions
Starlight questions
What is the difference between Starlight Extra, Plus and Floor?
Same honeycomb, different thickness and skins. Extra is the standard 19 to 21 mm panel. Plus is 34 mm and carries the sound reduction and fire certificates. Floor is 40 mm with polycarbonate skins and a 350 kg/m² operating load for raised floors.
Can Starlight be backlit?
Yes. Light entering the panel bounces inside the 19 mm cells and comes out diffused, which is what gives the panel its star pattern. Satin skins diffuse completely; glossy skins let some direct light through.
How heavy is a Starlight panel?
Bencore publishes 12 kg/m² for the 40 mm Floor build. The panels are 70 to 80 percent air, so a full sheet can be carried by one installer. Ask us for the data sheet of the exact build you are specifying.
Is Starlight available in Canada?
Yes, on order through FIDAR System in North York, Ontario. We are Bencore's authorized Canadian dealer. Send the sizes, thickness and finish codes and we will quote the panels and the freight.
