FIDAR System's flexible magnetic rolls are printable vinyl magnetic material — a rubber-based magnetic sheet bonded to a white vinyl face. Available in matte and gloss finishes and two thicknesses for different applications.

Finish Options

  • Matte White Vinyl — reduces glare; ideal for indoor signage, direct-print applications, and cold-laminated graphics
  • Gloss White Vinyl — high-reflectivity surface; ideal for outdoor vehicle graphics, promotional magnets, and display applications

Thickness Options

  • 0.020" — standard flexible magnetic; lighter weight, rolls and flexes easily
  • 0.030" — heavier gauge; stronger magnetic hold, more rigid, better for vehicle applications

Applications

  • Vehicle door magnets and fleet graphics
  • Retail and promotional signage
  • Fridge magnets and product magnets
  • Indoor whiteboards and magnetic display surfaces
  • Trade show and event graphics

Printing Notes

Compatible with solvent, UV, and latex wide-format printers. Always print on the vinyl face side — not the magnetic side. Cold lamination recommended for outdoor applications. Do not run through a heat laminator — the heat will demagnetize the material.

Vehicle Graphics & Fleet

Vehicle Door Magnets & Fleet Graphics

The 0.030" gloss magnetic roll is the standard material for vehicle door magnets and fleet graphics - applied to car, van, and truck doors for removable advertising and branding. The heavier gauge provides stronger magnetic hold on steel vehicle panels.

Retail & Promotions

Retail & Promotional Signage

Print shops and promotional product suppliers use magnetic rolls to produce custom fridge magnets, promotional display magnets, and point-of-purchase magnetic elements. The 0.020" gauge is sufficient for flat-surface display applications.

Events & Exhibitions

Trade Show & Event Graphics

Event graphics producers use printable magnetic sheets for modular display graphics that can be repositioned on steel-backed display panels or event infrastructure. The flexibility of the material allows it to be cut to custom shapes.

Office & Education

Indoor Whiteboards & Magnetic Display Surfaces

Magnetic sheets are used as backing material for wall-mounted display systems, whiteboard maps, and repositionable magnetic display elements in office and educational environments.

Food Service & Hospitality

Restaurant & Café Menu Boards

Hospitality operators print magnetic menu panels on 0.020" matte stock and attach them to steel-backed menu board frames. When pricing or menu items change, individual panels can be swapped out without reprinting the entire board.

Print & Reprographics

Wide-Format Print Shop Output

Print shops run 24" magnetic rolls through wide-format solvent or latex printers to produce cut-to-order vehicle magnets, custom-shaped promotional magnets, and repositionable display graphics. The 50 ft roll length keeps material cost per unit low on volume runs.

How to Fabricate Flexible Magnetic Sheet by Roll

1

Load & Feed

Feed the magnetic roll into your wide-format printer vinyl side up - the magnetic side faces down toward the platen. Make sure media guides are set to the 24" roll width. Run a test print on a short section before committing to a full-length job.

2

Print

Print using solvent, latex, or UV ink profiles appropriate for your printer's vinyl media setting. Allow full ink cure before handling (24 hours recommended for solvent; latex is typically dry to touch in minutes). Do not expose to heat during curing.

3

Cold Laminate (if required)

For outdoor applications, apply a cold-laminate overlaminate film using a cold (pressure-only) laminator. Do not use a heated laminator - heat demagnetizes the rubber base. Gloss or matte overlaminate extends the UV life of printed graphics significantly.

4

Cut to Shape

Cut the printed magnetic sheet using scissors, a utility knife with a steel ruler, a guillotine cutter, or a CNC knife cutter for complex shapes. Straight cuts are easiest on a self-healing cutting mat with a metal straight edge.

5

Test & Apply

Test magnetic hold on the intended surface before final delivery. For vehicle magnets, clean the vehicle panel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before application. Flat, horizontal, or near-vertical steel surfaces hold best. Avoid curved body panels at edges.

The 0.020" gauge is the standard flexible magnetic material - lighter weight, more flexible, and easier to cut and handle. It is suitable for flat surfaces, promotional magnets, and trade show graphics. The 0.030" gauge is heavier and provides a stronger magnetic hold - preferred for vehicle door magnets and applications where the magnet needs to stay securely in place at highway speeds or in outdoor conditions.

No. Do not run printable magnetic rolls through a heat laminator. Heat above approximately 80°C will demagnetize the rubber magnet base material, rendering the product non-magnetic. Cold lamination (pressure-sensitive laminate film) is the correct method for laminating printed magnetic graphics.

FIDAR System's printable magnetic rolls are compatible with wide-format solvent-based, UV-cured, and latex printers. The print surface is the white vinyl face - always print on the vinyl side, not the magnetic side. Check your printer's specifications for media thickness - at 0.020"–0.030", most roll-fed wide-format printers will accept this material.

All magnetic rolls at FIDAR System are 24" wide × 50 ft long. Both thickness options (0.020" and 0.030") are available in this format, in matte and gloss finishes.

Choose gloss for vehicle magnets and outdoor promotional graphics - the gloss surface produces brighter colours and sharper print contrast, and holds up better to rain and handling. Choose matte for indoor signage, menu boards, office displays, and any application where glare reduction matters or where the graphic will be viewed under direct lighting.

Flexible magnetic sheets cut cleanly with scissors, a sharp utility knife, or a die-cutting system. For precise geometric shapes, a guillotine cutter works well. For complex or organic shapes, CNC knife cutters (such as a Zund or Summa) produce the cleanest results on magnetic roll stock. The rubber-magnet base is relatively easy to cut - sharp blades are the main requirement.

Yes - the 0.030" gloss option is specifically suited for vehicle door magnets. For best outdoor results, apply to a clean, flat steel surface; avoid curved or compound-curved panels where the magnet may lift at the edges. Remove and store flat when not in use to preserve the magnetic hold and prevent the vinyl face from fading over extended outdoor exposure.
