HHC cast acrylic: 44 colour codes on our rack in Toronto.

HHC is the cast acrylic Hsin Hwa Chemical has made in Taiwan since 1973. Every code is the maker's own, stamped on the chip and printed on the sheet, so the number you order today is the colour you get on a reorder. Below is every HHC code we hold in North York, with its thicknesses and prices, and the data the maker publishes about its sheet.

Cast acrylic colour chips in blue, green, red, magenta, yellow, white and black, each stamped with the gold HHC hexagon and its own colour code

Read the stamp

The number is the factory's, not ours

  1. HHCThe gold hexagon is Hsin Hwa's own mark, stamped on the chip and printed on the masking film with “Made in Taiwan”.
  2. 2051The colour code, assigned in Taiwan. It is the same number on the chip, the sheet and our SKU, from HH-000 clear to HH-9092.
  3. …MOn our rack an M marks a matte face (2025M, 2447M, 7508M and the pastels). C01M is the exception: a gloss, translucent Day and Night black.
  4. D/NDay and Night: five codes, C01M to C05M, that read as one colour by day and another when LEDs light them from behind. We stock C01M; the other four are quoted.

Order by code, not by colour name. “Royal blue” means nothing across two suppliers; 2051 means one formulation from one plant.

Thickness tolerance, gauge by gauge

Cast acrylic is poured between two sheets of glass, so it is never perfectly even. Hsin Hwa publishes the band for every gauge: exactly 8 percent of nominal from 2.8 to 15 mm, 15 percent at the thinnest gauges and 5 percent on heavy blocks. Above 50 mm the published figure caps at a flat ±4.00 mm.

Why it matters: a 5 mm sheet can arrive at 4.60 mm and still be perfect acrylic, and it will drop straight through a slot routed at 5.0 mm. Four 5 mm sheets laminated are allowed to measure anywhere from 18.4 to 21.6 mm. Cut press fits to the sheet in front of you. We measure the actual gauge on request before a cut run leaves our floor.

Sheet formats

One sheet format runs the whole range: 4×8

Hsin Hwa lists 18 formats for 1.5 to 12 mm, from 915 × 1830 mm up to 2030 × 3050 mm. For heavy sheet every format stops at 25 mm or less, except one: 1220 × 2440 mm, the 48 × 96 inch sheet North America buys, keeps going through 30, 35, 38, 40, 45, 50, 60, 65, 70, 75 mm.

We stock 3×6 ft, 4×6 ft, 4×8 ft. Larger sheets and thick 4×8 sheet up to 75 mm can be requested from HHC for a quote.

Cell cast

Why we keep saying “cast”

Each HHC sheet cures in its own glass cell instead of being pushed through a die. It is slower and costs more per sheet, and a fabricator feels the difference in four places.

  • 01
    A cleaner laser cut

The edge comes off the machine flame polished and needs no secondary finishing.

  • 02
    A high contrast engrave

The laser reveals a bright frosted white under the pigment, which is why black cast acrylic is the standard for plaques and nameplates.

  • 03
    Better thermoforming

Cast holds its shape through a heat form, where extruded tends to remember the die.

  • 04
    A higher heat deflection temperature

Roughly 95 °C, against about 80 °C for extruded PMMA.

Extruded acrylic is a fair choice for high volume flat cutting where the edge is hidden. We stock it too, under its own name, and tell you which one your job needs.

Test reports

The 8 documents Hsin Hwa publishes

A distributor saying a sheet is compliant is worth less than the manufacturer publishing the report. Ask for any of these and we request the current copy from Hsin Hwa and send it through unedited.

  • Burning rate test reportAcrylic is a combustible thermoplastic, and someone will eventually ask.
  • Weather resistance test reportWhether a sign face survives Ontario winters outdoors.
  • SGS FDA test reportIssued through SGS, for food contact work such as display cases and bakery guards.
  • Material safety data sheetFor any shop with a health and safety binder.
  • RoHS test reportAgainst the EU restriction of hazardous substances directive.
  • Light transmission curveMeasured from 300 to 2300 nm at 3, 5 and 10 mm.
  • P95 transmittance rate reportCovers the frosted P95 surface grade.

Who really makes your cast acrylic sheet

The origin story of HHC cast acrylic, how to decode Hsin Hwa Chemical's factory colour codes, what the published thickness tolerance means at the bench, and why one sheet format runs the entire range.

The full story, with the maker's company register entry, the light transmission curve and the format tables, is in HHC acrylic: inside the Taiwan factory behind it.

About FIDAR System

Buying HHC in Canada

Five things to know before you order

  1. Order by code, not by colour name"Royal blue" means nothing across two suppliers. 2051 means one thing.
  2. Keep the masking on through fabricationCast acrylic scratches, and the film is there for the whole job, not just the shipping.
  3. Measure the gauge before you cut a slotThe published tolerance is real, and wider than most people assume. We measure the actual gauge on request before a cut run leaves our floor.
  4. Ask for thick sheet in 4×8Above 25 mm no other format exists to cut from.
  5. Get the test report if a specifier is involvedWe pull any of the eight documents through from the manufacturer, unedited.

Questions

HHC acrylic, answered

Is all of FIDAR System's acrylic HHC?

No. Our cast acrylic lines are HHC: Cast Clear Acrylic Sheets, Coloured Acrylic Sheets, Black Acrylic Sheets, White Acrylic Sheets, Pastel Acrylic Sheets, P95 Frosted Acrylic Sheets. Extruded acrylic and mirror acrylic come from other sources and are sold under their own names, so the shop's brand filter and each product page tell you which is which.

Which HHC colour codes do you keep in stock?

44 codes across 6 lines. Cast Clear Acrylic Sheets: 000. Coloured Acrylic Sheets: 2050, 2051, 2114, 9092, 2030, 2108, 9093, 2119, 2208, 3199, 9095, 2157, 2240, 2283, 2423, 2793, 2287, 2016, 2037, 2465, 9097. Black Acrylic Sheets: 2025, 2025M, C01M, 2412, 504, 2064. White Acrylic Sheets: 402, 2447, 2447M, 7328, 7508, 7508M. Pastel Acrylic Sheets: B8211M, G8215M, G8216M, O8214M, O8219M, B8213M, P8217M, V8218M, Y8212M. P95 Frosted Acrylic Sheets: P95-000M. Stock and prices on this page are read from the shop, so they match what you can order today.

What does the M after an HHC colour code mean?

On our rack an M marks a matte face: Matte Black 2025M, White Matte 2447M and 7508M, and all nine pastel codes. It is not a rule you can apply blindly. C01M is a gloss, translucent Day and Night black, and P95-000M is the frosted grade, gloss on one side and frosted on the other.

Can I order an HHC colour code you do not stock?

Yes, by quote. Hsin Hwa publishes 52 colour codes, from HH-000 clear to HH-9092, and makes five Day and Night colours, C01M to C05M. We stock C01M; the others are quoted on request. Send us the code, a photo of the old panel or the brand standard and we will tell you honestly whether it matches before you commit.

What thicknesses and sheet sizes of HHC acrylic do you carry?

From 1 mm to 30 mm, in 3×6 ft, 4×6 ft, 4×8 ft sheets; which gauges each code comes in is listed on this page. Larger sheets, up to 2000 × 3000 mm and 2030 × 3050 mm depending on thickness, and thick sheet up to 75 mm in 4×8 ft can be requested from HHC for a quote.

How accurate is the thickness of HHC cast acrylic?

Hsin Hwa publishes a tolerance for every gauge. From 2.8 mm to 15 mm it is 8 percent of nominal, so ±0.22 mm at 2.8 mm and ±0.96 mm at 12 mm. The thinnest gauges are 15 percent and the heavy blocks 5 percent, capped at ±4.00 mm above 50 mm. Cast sheet is poured between glass, so measure the sheet before you cut a press fit slot; we measure the actual gauge on request.

Where is HHC acrylic made?

By Hsin Hwa Chemical Co., Ltd. (宏萊實業股份有限公司), No. 1 Yung-Hsiang Road, Fang-Liao, Pingtung County, Taiwan, in the Pingnan Industrial Park. The company was established in the spring of 1973, sells the sheet as Beauty Glass, and ships through the port of Kaohsiung.

Can I get HHC test reports and data sheets?

Yes. Hsin Hwa publishes 8 documents: burning rate test report, weather resistance test report, sgs fda test report, material safety data sheet, rohs test report, light transmission curve, p95 transmittance rate report, ul yellow card. Ask us and we will request the current copy from the manufacturer and send it through unedited.

Can HHC acrylic be cut to size?

Yes. We cut it at our North York warehouse on a laser, a CNC router and a panel saw, and you can price a cut part online in the cut to size configurator before you order. Full sheets ship across Canada from the same stock.
