FIDAR System's wood grain PVC sheets are rigid, closed-cell PVC foam board with a printed wood grain film on one face or both. They build cabinets, vanities, shelving and wall panels that look like oak or walnut but have a core that does not soak up water, which is where melamine board and MDF give out in kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms.

What it is

  • PVC foam board core with a decorative PVC film, decorated on one side or both
  • 92 wood grain designs: oaks, walnuts, cherries, pear wood, maple, engineered timber, straight-grain and rattan lattice patterns, shown below with their codes
  • 4×8 ft sheets in 6, 10, 12, 18 and 24mm; other thicknesses from 6 to 25mm on request
  • Closed-cell core that does not swell when water reaches an edge or a screw hole
  • Saw and CNC router friendly; never laser cut, because PVC releases hydrogen chloride

Where it is used

  • Kitchen, bathroom and laundry cabinets, vanities and shelving
  • Wardrobes, closets and built-in storage
  • Faux wood wall panels and feature walls
  • Retail fixtures, display units and hospitality furniture

How to order

Wood grain PVC sheets are made to order, not held in stock. Pick the designs below, then send the design codes, thickness, one or two decorated sides and the number of sheets through the quote form. We reply the same business day with price, availability and lead time, and volume pricing on larger orders.

Millwork & Cabinetry

Kitchen, Bathroom and Laundry Cabinets

Carcasses, doors and shelves for the rooms where water reaches the board. The closed-cell PVC core does not swell at an edge or a screw hole, where particleboard and MDF cores do.

Residential Millwork

Wardrobes, Closets and Built-ins

A wood look for built-in storage, with the film on both sides for shelves and doors seen from either face.

Interiors & Fit-Out

Faux Wood Wall Panels

Oak, walnut or textured wall panels for offices, shops and hospitality interiors, light enough to fix to battens or bond to a flat wall.

Retail & Hospitality

Retail Fixtures and Hospitality Furniture

Display units, shelving and furniture parts with a wood finish that wipes clean, routed to shape on a CNC router.

How to Fabricate Wood Grain PVC Sheets

1

Plan the cuts with the pattern

Lay out parts so the grain or veining runs the way you want on the finished piece, and keep the protective film on until the part is installed.

2

Saw or rout, never laser

Cut on a saw with a sharp, fine-tooth carbide blade or on a CNC router with an O-flute bit, and test the setup on an offcut to keep the film edge clean. Never laser cut it: PVC gives off hydrogen chloride gas under a laser.

3

Finish the edges

A cut edge shows the PVC foam core. Edge band it, cap it with a trim, or place it where it will not be seen.

4

Fix and bond

Screw or fasten it like other PVC board, with pilot holes, or bond it with an adhesive made for PVC. Leave room for movement on long runs, because PVC expands as it warms.

Rigid PVC foam board with a printed wood grain film laminated to one face or both. They look like oak, walnut or pear wood but have a plastic core that does not absorb water. Ours are 4×8 ft, in 6, 10, 12, 18 and 24mm, in 92 wood grain designs.

Where water is the problem, yes. Melamine board is particleboard or MDF with a melamine paper face, and once water reaches the core through a cut edge or a screw hole the wood fibre can swell. A PVC foam core does not take up water, which is why it suits sinks, vanities and laundry rooms. Melamine board is fine in dry rooms.

No, wood grain PVC sheets are made to order. Send the design codes, thickness, one or two decorated sides and quantity through the quote form and we reply the same business day with price, availability and lead time.

One side has the wood grain film on the face only, for parts where the back is hidden, such as wall panels and cabinet backs. Both sides carries the film on both faces, for doors, shelves and partitions seen from either side.

Yes. The factory's plain white PVC foam board has passed an EU REACH screening for 219 substances of very high concern, each at or below 0.1% (January 2022), and the EU phthalate restriction, REACH Annex XVII entries 51 and 52, with none of the seven listed phthalates detected (December 2021). Its 15mm white board, fixed to a fibre cement backing, is classed B-s1, d0 under EN 13501-1 for use in cabinets (January 2022). A sample of the supplier's wood grain film was tested against the EU RoHS limits: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and the brominated flame retardants PBB and PBDE were not detected, and the phthalate DEHP measured 501 mg/kg, under the 1,000 mg/kg limit (June 2024). All are independent laboratory reports on samples, and copies are available on request.

Yes. Other thicknesses from 6 to 25mm, a 16mm UV board, and 37 PET surfaces in solid anti-fingerprint colours and gloss, soft-touch and sparkle finishes are all available by quote. The full list is in the design gallery on this page.

Yes, indoors. They fix to battens or bond to a flat wall. In commercial and public buildings, walls have flame spread limits tested to CAN/ULC-S102; our fire result is a European EN 13501-1 class, so check the requirement with the project's designer first.

No. PVC gives off hydrogen chloride under a laser, which is hazardous and corrodes the machine. Saw it or rout it on a CNC router.

Yes. Pickup in North York is free, our own truck delivers within 50 km, and we ship to every province; the freight is quoted with the sheets.

Three things to know before you specify it

What the lab tests show, and what they cover

Walls in commercial buildings: check the code first

EN 13501-1 is a European fire classification, and the B-s1, d0 result was for plain 15mm board on a fibre cement backing, for use in cabinets. It is not a Canadian CAN/ULC-S102 flame spread rating, which is what building codes ask for on walls and ceilings in commercial and public buildings. For cabinets, furniture and fixtures that rarely matters; for wall cladding in a commercial space, confirm the requirement with the project's designer before ordering.

Wood grain PVC board, faux wood panel, PVC cabinet board: one material

Suppliers sell this under all three names. Under the wood face it is rigid PVC foam board, the same family as our white PVC sheets, so it routes, screws and bonds the way PVC board does.

Against melamine board the difference is the core: melamine board is fine in dry rooms, and wood grain PVC does not swell where water gets in. For a sink base, a vanity or a laundry room, that is the part that fails first.

Millwork and closet builders

Wardrobes, closets and built-ins with the film on both faces where shelves and doors show both sides.

Fit-out and interior contractors

Faux wood wall panels and feature walls for offices, shops and hospitality interiors.

Retail fixture and furniture makers

Display units, shelving and furniture parts with a wood finish, routed on a CNC router.

What we do

  • Order in 4x8 ft sheets in 6, 10, 12, 18 and 24mm, decorated on one side or both, at the prices on this page
  • Quote other thicknesses from 6 to 25mm, the 16mm UV board and the PET surfaces on request
  • Answer a quote request the same business day during business hours, with price and lead time
  • Free pickup in North York, delivery on our own truck within 50 km, shipping across Canada

What we do not do

So the wrong request does not wait on a reply:

  • Not from stock. These sheets are made to order, so there is no same-day pickup
  • No laser cutting. PVC gives off hydrogen chloride under a laser, so it goes on the saw or the router
  • No outdoor rating. We have no outdoor data for the printed film, so we sell it for interiors
