Crystal is the system Bencore built for projects that need glass. The innovative double glazing unit combines the core of Lightben CC, in any of its colours, with skins of glass, and the result sits in an adaptable metal frame as a door or a wall. The honeycomb modulates the light in intensity and colour; the glass takes care of thermal and, above all, acoustic insulation.
The whole door and wall system carries the European Bs1d0 fire reaction certificate, which Bencore describes as making it able to stem the spread of fire in every area it divides. The frame adapts to the dimensions of the space, so Crystal goes into office floors and homes alike.

Why put a honeycomb inside glass?
To get both sets of properties. The Lightben core gives the directional translucency and colour of a Bencore panel; the sealed glass unit gives the sound and heat insulation of double glazing and lets the system carry a Bs1d0 fire certificate.
Can the core colour be chosen?
Yes. Crystal uses Lightben CC, the colour core panel, in all its colours: red, orange, yellow, silver, black, green, light blue and white.
Does the Bs1d0 rating apply in Canada?
Bs1d0 is a European classification, not a Canadian one. For a rated wall, ask us for the certificate and have the project's code consultant map it to the National Building Code requirement before specifying.
